WeLearn User Guide

One Caribbean · One Curriculum · Primary to CAPE (Grades 1–13)

Everything you need to learn, teach, and track progress — on any phone, tablet, or computer.

1 Welcome to WeLearn

WeLearn is a Caribbean-wide learning platform with thousands of illustrated lessons and practice questions, aligned to the regional curriculum from the early primary grades through secondary, CSEC and CAPE (Grades 1–13).

Whoever you are, WeLearn has a place for you:

  • Students learn through pictures, diagrams, and interactive lessons, then test themselves with quizzes.
  • Parents & guardians follow a child's progress with weekly reports.
  • Teachers buy and download ready-made, curriculum-aligned lesson plans.
Pan-Caribbean by design. Content is written for the whole region — Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Barbados, the OECS, The Bahamas, Guyana, Belize and more — using shared anchors like the Atlantic hurricane season, wet and dry seasons, and CSEC/CXC exams. Where things differ by country (currencies, local examples), the lessons teach the idea and invite you to apply it locally.

2 Getting Started

Open WeLearn

Go to 1curriculum.org in any browser, or install the app (Section 9). Everything works on a phone, tablet, or computer.

Create an account

  1. Tap Sign up and choose whether you are a student or a parent/guardian.
  2. Enter your details and a password. Guardians can link one or more children.
  3. You'll receive a branded welcome email confirming your account.
Free to start. You can explore lessons and sample questions on the free plan. Study packs and lesson plans are purchased separately (Sections 7–8).

3 For Students

Learning on WeLearn is simple: pick a subject, work through the lessons, then take a quiz.

  1. Pick a subject tile on the home screen.
  2. Choose a lesson. Each one uses clear pictures and diagrams, with tap-to-reveal boxes so you can check your understanding as you go.
  3. Take the quiz at the end to lock in what you learned.
  4. Aim for the gold quiz — score well and you unlock the gold challenge for that topic.
Learn by seeing. Every WeLearn lesson includes drawn diagrams and interactive elements rather than walls of text — great for younger learners and visual thinkers.

4 Subjects & Lessons

WeLearn covers the full journey from early primary to secondary.

LevelSubjects
Primary (Grades 1–6)Literacy, Numeracy, Science, and Social Studies.
Secondary (Grade 7+)English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, History, Social Studies and more — building toward CSEC and CAPE.
Choosing the right tile. For primary learners, language lessons live under Literacy and maths under Numeracy. Science and Social Studies serve every grade. Secondary subjects (English, Mathematics, the sciences, etc.) are for Grade 7 and up.

Special collections include a STEM Lab (science, technology, engineering and maths with drawn diagrams), Caribbean Environment & Climate, and Health & the Human Body.

5 Quizzes & Progress

  • Practice questions follow each lesson so learning is active, not passive.
  • The gold quiz is a tougher challenge unlocked once a topic's lessons are done — a goal to aim for.
  • Progress is saved automatically, so students (and their guardians) can see how far they've come.

6 For Parents & Guardians

Stay involved without hovering. WeLearn keeps you informed and lets you support your child's learning.

  • Link your child to your guardian account during sign-up or from your account settings.
  • Weekly progress reports arrive by email, summarising lessons completed and quiz performance.
  • Encourage the gold quiz — it's a simple, motivating goal for children.
A little each day. Short, regular sessions work far better than occasional long ones. A lesson and its quiz make an ideal daily goal.

7 For Teachers — Lesson Plans

WeLearn's lesson-plan store gives teachers ready-to-use, curriculum-aligned plans they can buy and download in minutes.

  • Plans are aligned to the regional curriculum (Jamaica NSC / MoEY pacing) and framed for the wider Caribbean.
  • Browse by grade and term, preview, then purchase securely.
  • Your purchased copy is for your own classroom use — adapt currency, seasons, and local examples to your territory.

9 The WeLearn App

WeLearn installs like an app on your device for one-tap access.

  • On Android, install WeLearn from Google Play (rolling out across the Caribbean).
  • On iPhone/iPad and computers, open 1curriculum.org and choose Add to Home Screen — it behaves like an app, full-screen and fast.

10 Tips & Help

Quick tips

  • Start with the subject tile that matches your grade — primary learners use Literacy and Numeracy.
